Kilowatt Events successfully managed the operations, logistics, and live event production of the opening and closing ceremonies at the Copa America tournament in 2024. For the championship match in Miami, we produced the first-ever musical halftime show at an international soccer match featuring a performance from Shakira. This project abounded with challenges that our team navigated and overcame. The timeline for the planning was extremely tight, giving us only 2 weeks to design and advance Shakira’s performance before starting the stage and production fabrication. The fabrication window itself was only a weeklong, some of which had to be done on the ground in Miami. Our rehearsals on the field were reduced to only a 3-hour window due to weather and a sensitivity to pitch conditions from competition. All of this added pressure to a show that already demanded the highest level of precision, efficiency, and skill. The performance was a huge success and both Shakira and Conmebol’s teams were extremely happy with the final result.
